The Flirting Club
Jamie
Jamie – very insecure,twenty nine, nerdy, but has potential underneath. scruffy hair. Lives at home with mum and her boyfriend. Nice guy but on the lazy side – still fourteen at heart. Works in I.T. has had a few girl friends that’ve happened to have crossed his path – they have asked him out so he’s gone along with it – until they have finished with him and he’s just shrugged and moved on. Never been in love. Hasn’t found his true path he lacks motivation. Needs a good woman to find the man within. He has the ‘Ah’ factor. He really fancies Lydia but as he has never had to ask a woman out let, alone impress them he is hopeless around her. His best mate is Bill.
Melanie
Melanie – late twenties. A littlie insecure, a bit of a Bridget Jones type. Naturally girlie but always dressing practically for work. Doesn’t make the best out of herself. Naturally quite happy but lost her confidence needs to put the fun back in her life. Works at a monkey sanctuary. Wanted to be become a vet but was in long term relationship, lived with partner. He suffered with depression and after Mel had supported him through three years of therapy and anti depressants he decided he needed a change and that she wasn’t enough for him and so went traveling and left her. He occasionally texts her with stories of how well he is doing and how exciting his life is – never asking how she is. She had moved to the area with him. Her family and friends live miles away but she loves her job and now lives in a bed sit after she had to give her flat up she shared with her ex.
Lydia
Lydia – mid thirties, beautiful. Works in I.T. She appears as a gold digger. She likes nice things and expects to be treated a certain way (her way). Men are there to adore her and women are there to make her feel good about herself. She lives alone in a flat mummy and daddy bought her. She has had several long term relationships – all with money, nice holidays, but something is always missing. She is lonely, the guys she goes for want her for the trophy she is rather than her.
Bill
Bill – twenty-eight, overweight.
Miriam
Miriam – late forties, very attractive, flowing floral robes.
Vince
Very Smug, he is the Hugh Grant gone wrong type. Arrogant and very snooty. Things he knows everything.
Pammy
Pammy – biggirl, gold junk. She is a serial shagger although each man (from the club) is ‘the one’ for the time she’s with him (the first night anyway). The men in her life spoil her but as soon as they start being nice, to her are just wimps and they are out. She is larger than life and just needs to be put in her place. She has three kids by two different men. She works as a beautician but is the common end of the market.
Kelly
Kelly – late twenties, very pretty, but tarty, would love to be a page 3 girl. She works in as a travel agent.
Stu
Stu – thirty. Birmingham accent. Very camp, Fitness addict. Works at a gym but is in training to change direction he has auditioned to join a penis puppetry act touring the country – (he has a hidden talent!). So is forever re arranging himself. He used to be a fat kid and has lost it all but is very, very shy unless on stage. He was bullied through school until he took up boxing and fitness but still blushes whenever a woman speaks to him. Lives in his own flat. Went out with a girl for a short time at college but has been single since.
Gordon
Gordon – well dressed mid thirties. He lived with a much older woman who left her husband for him. She bought them a flat, which Gordon designed and decorated himself. But their tastes differed and he’d spent all of her money and was talking about him maybe getting a job – they had to split.
Jamie's mum
Jamie's Mum – sixty, small, grey-haired.
Derek
Derek – sixty, ex-army.
Laura
The Girl next door.
Sid Castle
Carpet sales man, can sell anything, only one goal in live..to sell carpets.
Mr Grossman
Mr. Grossman – (plumber) fifties, portly.
Toto - The Dog
Toto is Jamie's parent's pet dog.
Rasheed
Rasheed- bit of a stunt character in the script as he always gets injured.
Lydia's Mum
Lydias Mum- Older Lady, same as her Daughter very business minded, comes from upper class and hence does not mix with any one else.
Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver- Typical Taxidriver...you've been in a Taxi...you know the type.
