The Flirting Club

He still lives at home with his mother, her ex-Army boyfriend Derek and her Great Dane, Toto. In his office Jamie is just another cog in the wheel and has been skipped promotion many times.

This might be partly due to his two left hands. He fancies his Boss' gorgeous PA, Lydia, but she is being courted by the office 'Flash Harry', Geoff, who is everything Jamie is not. On a bender with his best friend Bill, Jamie stumbles to the toilet but ends up in small room above the pub and finds a group of like-minded singles.

The group consists of eight people; six thirty-something singles and Tom and Miriam, their teachers, who adopt unusual techniques to flirting success. The students come from various walks of life and have their own comic dating problems in the past. The group have discussions of how to overcome each member's problems and they are set weekly flirting tasks to go and try in real life. For some members it is a challenge to overcome their shyness, others have to learn to apply techniques without making a complete fool out of themselves or getting slapped!

The course ends with all the flirting clubs around the country meeting in London for a national singles weekend; what better way for them to try out all of their new techniques! Jamie finds out that he has a lot in common with Melanie, one of the 'librarian-type' girls in his group. However, Lydia appears and drags him off for a night of passion. Just at the vital moment, however, Jamie realises that he has fallen in love with Melanie...
